This may result in temporary tooth sensitivity, which usually lasts for no more than a few days.

Dental implant treatment typically requires two oral surgeries followed by the placement of dental restorations, and therefore, requires the longest recovery time of full mouth reconstruction procedures. Patients may need anywhere from six weeks to three months for the jaw bone to heal completely and fuse to the implants after the first oral surgery. After the second surgery the jaw will again need several weeks to heal before the final restorations can be placed. While this can be a lengthy treatment process, the results are permanent.
- Scaling and planing: The health of the gums directly affects the health of the teeth, so if gum disease is present, it will be addressed during full mouth reconstruction. This deep cleaning can remove tartar from above and below the gum line to restore the health of the gums. This procedure is likely to result in tenderness of the gums (and possibly bleeding) for a day or two after treatment.
